Basics
What is Sidekick?
Sidekick is an iOS AI assistant for chat, writing, research, documents, Projects, creative generation, and 18 AI Characters. You can ask questions, work with files and links, summarize content, generate media, and organize work by topic.
Which platforms does Sidekick support?
The public download is on the iOS App Store. Sidekick does not currently advertise a separate Android download on this website.
Which AI models does Sidekick use?
Model options can include ChatGPT 5-style intelligence, Claude Sonnet, Gemini 3 Flash, MiniMax 2.7, OpenAI models, and other advanced AI technology. The exact model list and provider availability can change over time.
Is Sidekick free?
Yes. Sidekick is free to start, with a set of messages each day on fast models. Flagship models, higher limits, and some creative tools require a Pro subscription. Current pricing, credits, and entitlements are shown in the app and subscriptions are managed through Apple.
Do I need an account to use Sidekick?
No. You can start as a guest with no sign-up. Signing in with Apple is optional and only adds your name and email so your purchases stay linked to you.
What devices does Sidekick run on?
Sidekick runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. It is available from the iOS App Store; there is no separate Android download advertised on this website.
Projects
What are Projects?
Projects organize chats, files, research, model choices, and web-search settings by topic. They help keep context together when you are working toward a specific goal.
Can Sidekick remember uploaded knowledge?
Within Projects, relevant uploaded knowledge can be used for future answers in that Project. Delete conversations or local data in the app when you no longer want that information stored locally.
Search and summaries
Does Sidekick search the web?
Yes. Web search and research mode can gather current information and show sources with inline citations or source lists so you can inspect where an answer came from.
Can I summarize PDFs, web pages, Markdown, and YouTube videos?
Yes. Sidekick can summarize PDFs, text, Markdown files, pasted links, web pages, and YouTube transcripts. Some YouTube videos do not provide a transcript, and Sidekick shows a clear no-transcript message when that happens.
Can Sidekick scan text or analyze photos?
Yes. OCR can extract text from images and scans, and AI Camera can analyze photos, diagrams, objects, and visual or math problems.
Creative tools
Can Sidekick generate or edit images?
Yes. Sidekick can generate, edit, and regenerate images from chat or the Generate area.
Can Sidekick make videos?
Yes. Image to Video and Photo to Video can animate a picture into a short clip from chat or Generate. Images, videos, and voices can be saved in My Gallery.
Can Sidekick create voices or audio?
Yes. Generate includes audio and text-to-speech tools, and voice outputs are saved in My Gallery. Voice input turns speech into text for chat.
Is voice a live phone-call style assistant?
Sidekick supports voice input, speech recognition, and text-to-speech. It should not be treated as a realtime phone-call style voice conversation unless that capability appears in the app.
Privacy and data
Where are conversations stored?
Conversation history is stored locally on your device. Data needed to produce AI responses is sent to third-party AI providers only after you grant AI data consent in the app.
Is my data used to train AI models?
The Privacy Policy says Sidekick does not use user data to train AI models. Third-party providers may retain transmitted data according to their own policies.
Who processes AI requests?
AI requests can be processed by third-party providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Tavily for search, Supadata for transcripts, and OpenRouter-backed models. Provider traffic is routed server-side through Sidekick's Cloudflare Worker proxy, so provider API keys are never shipped in the app.
Can I turn off sending my data to AI providers?
Yes. Sidekick asks for AI data consent before any chat, image, voice, or web-search content is sent to a provider. You can review or revoke that consent in Settings at any time; without it, those features stay off.
How do I delete my conversations or data?
Conversations are stored locally, so you can delete individual chats or clear all local data in the app. For personal information associated with an account, contact support to request deletion.
Do you sell my data?
No. The Privacy Policy states that your data is not sold and not used to train AI models. Analytics are anonymous and do not include the content of your conversations or prompts.
Plans, billing, and cancellation
What do I get free, and what does Pro add?
Free gives you a set of messages each day on fast models. Pro adds flagship models, higher limits, and the full set of creative tools, and removes the watermark on shared images and videos. Exact prices and plan options are shown on the in-app upgrade screen.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancel from your device: open Settings → your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions → Sidekick, then tap Cancel Subscription. You can also reach this from the App Store profile menu.
Will my subscription renew automatically, and when am I charged?
Yes, paid plans auto-renew through your Apple ID until you cancel. The next charge happens at the end of the current period; if a free trial is offered, the charge falls at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
What happens to my access if I cancel?
You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, then the app returns to the free plan. Your local conversations stay on your device.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Eligibility is decided by Apple under App Store policy. If you were charged unexpectedly, start there and contact us if you need help.
I subscribed on another device or reinstalled — how do I restore Pro?
Open the upgrade screen in the app and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. Your entitlement will be re-applied.
Account and devices
Do my chats sync across my devices?
Conversations are stored locally on each device, so they do not automatically sync between devices. Your Pro subscription, however, follows your Apple ID and can be restored on any device you sign in to.
How do I request account deletion?
Delete conversations and local data in the app at any time. For deletion of personal information linked to an account, contact support.
Limits and languages
Are there limits on how many messages I can send?
Free use includes a set number of messages each day that refresh daily. Pro raises or removes those limits. If you reach the free limit, the app lets you know and you can upgrade or wait for the daily reset.
Can I use Sidekick offline?
No. Sidekick needs an internet connection because answers and creative generation are produced by AI providers over the network.
What languages does Sidekick support?
The app interface is localized into many languages, and the AI can understand and reply in a wide range of languages. You can simply chat in your preferred language.
Can Sidekick be wrong?
Yes. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Verify important answers and do not rely on Sidekick for professional medical, legal, or financial advice.
Can I use generated content commercially?
You retain ownership of prompts and content you provide, and may use generated output subject to applicable law and third-party provider terms. Review the Terms of Use for the governing terms.
Comparison and troubleshooting
How is Sidekick different from ChatGPT?
Sidekick brings several top models — from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google — into one iOS app, and adds Projects, sourced web answers, document and YouTube summaries, image and video generation, voice, an AI camera, and AI characters. Conversations are stored on your device rather than in a single provider's cloud.
Sidekick isn't responding or shows an error — what should I do?
Check your internet connection, confirm you have granted AI data consent in Settings, and try again. If a particular model is busy, switching models often helps. Persistent issues? Contact support.
I subscribed but Pro features aren't showing — how do I fix it?
Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple ID you subscribed with. If Pro still doesn't appear, contact support.
